Worship Centers and Expandable Worship Centers
January 17th, 2007 by Todd
It is possible to design worship auditoriums in such a manner that they can be expanded as the congregation grows over time. Some of the common ways in which this is done include constructing classrooms around the perimeter of the Worship Center, which may be demolished to expand the seating, or a removable back wall to the worship space so that additional seating can be constructed. In such cases, it is important to consider the ultimate seating locations so that proper sight lines can be provided, unobstructed by columns or other structures. It is also important to build some of the structure on the back wall to accommodate the future expansion. This would include columns and foundations capable of supporting the added load. Another method is to provide additional height in the Worship Center and to construct interior footings beneath the floor slabs to be able to support columns for a future balcony.
We have designed worship centers that have been able to be expanded from 1,000 to 5,000. [See WorshipCenters.php]
