Yesterday, we examined Trend 1: Youth Facilties from 7 Biggest Trends for Churches by Church Business. Today, we’ll be looking at Trend 2:
Multifunction, Multipurpose, Multi-Venue, Multi-Site
The satellite church revolution will become a viable option. [Pastor] Ed Young’s comments are right on the money: You don’t have to spend a lot of money on these venues, but you have to do things well. That means no handwritten signs, fresh paint, making sure things are clean.
David Evans says:
I think the worship auditorium Environment is becoming a little smaller and a little more intimate. We’re sometimes seeing three or four small auditoriums on the same campus instead of one large one.
I think Erwin and Evans are right on. Multiple venues, when handled appropriately, can be very valuable for churches. Aside from the growth potential from additional space, another venue could have a totally different atmosphere then your traditional Worship Center. Your second venue could simply be another room on your church campus, or it could be a warehouse, movie theatre, strip mall. You could even rent a nightclub and you wouldn’t be the first church taking that approach.
Tomorrow we’ll be looking at Trend 3: Churches Must Act Like Good Neighbors
