Recently, I have assisted several Churches through the process of selecting a Construction Manager.  I recently read an article in the April 2007 issue of Church Business and they listed three key elements to consider when making this critical selection. It is the 3 C’s.  The first is “C”ompetency- their ability to get the project done with the desired results and within the timeline and budget.  The second is “C”haracter-determine if the work was completed with integrity.  Be assured that the decisions they make are decisions that your Church mission can live with for the next 10-20 years and even longer.  The final is “C”hemistry- determine how they work relationally.  How will they interact with the rest of the team?  So for all the Churches contemplating the tough decision of contractor selection-remember the three C’s!

After thinking about this a bit more, I believe it should be the four C’s with the fourth one being “C”ommunication. The importance of communication can not be overlooked.
