The Premise

Jesus Walking on WaterI look at our recent trip to Israel as another leg in a journey that God called us to several years ago. At that time, Robin and I simultaneously felt the call of God to intercede for Israel and our nation on a regular basis. “Prayer for the Nations” was birthed at The Crossing and has been occurring during the second service each Sunday. When Nancy heard about our prayer time, she joined us.  Others also joined us; however, we noticed that the Lord was intimately weaving the three of us together as He shared His heart with us, and it was not uncommon for one of us to pray out loud what the others had on their hearts.

In the fall of last year, Robin proposed a prayer journey to Israel for the three of us, asking Nancy to be our guide since she has been there multiple times.  We knew that this was the Lord’s idea, and began to make our plans.  Frequently, the Lord calls unlikely people to join Him in a mission, and He’ll ask them to come out of their comfort zone in order to teach them new things.  This was my personal experience as God called me, a non-traveler with fear of the unknown, to step out of my boat and walk on water. (Praise God!  With His grace and the help of my friends, I did it.)  For our many brothers and sisters in the Lord who prayed for us, we will be eternally grateful.  We sensed that we were being carried by those prayers and learned a great deal during this trip.
