Jerusalem is the center of the spiritual universe, and as Israel goes, so go the nations. God is calling His Church to share the burden of His heart for salvation of His firstborn and for the protection of Israel.

He is asking His Church, “Who will pray?” “Who will go?” “Who will stand in the gap?” “Who will give themselves no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth?” (Isaiah 62:7) At the University Botanical Garden—Jerusalem, there is a commemorative garden and plaque to a Japanese Buddhist Monk who frequently came to Jerusalem. He is quoted on the plaque and says that he recognizes that Jerusalem is the center of the spiritual world. It is amazing to us that this Buddhist Monk “gets it.”

Psalm 102:13-16 says, “You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come. For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity. The nations will fear the name of the Lord; all the kings of the earth will revere your glory. For the Lord will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory.” The psalmist tells us the truth about God’s heart for His people.

As we were traveling home from Israel, Nancy, Robin and I realized that God was calling us to share about our journey with others in the Body of Christ. He placed a deposit in us and a burden to define the vision. The trip was an “intercessory missionary journey”—the vision is to find many more from the Body of Christ who will heed the call to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” (Psalm 122:6) The hope is that groups will be established to pray consistently and intentionally and to travel to Israel to intercede in agreement with the Lord.

We know that it is through Israel that global harvest will come. The Lord is in the process of amassing an army of believers to come the Israel and to pray for His people. It is time to agonize in prayer for the Lord’s Kingdom plans to manifest on earth. “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10)
